"I've been coming to Kauai for a few years now and always wondered why no one has combined a fabulous view with a nice atmosphere, good food and excellent cocktails yet. Well, now someone has. Sam's Ocean View is simply a wonderful place all around.

As a plant based eater (vegan) I can only judge the majority of the food by looking at it, but I'd say that everything that came out of the kitchen looked very nice with the prices on the menu being extremely reasonable. The restaurant is definitely vegan friendly and I had a fabulous salad and some roasted veggies.

If you only go for a drink try Sam's lychee martini; it shoots your taste buds straight into vacation mode and island living.
The decor is eclectic which makes the place a go to place even after dark. There's a TV behind the bar, but rather than games and commercials they show movies and their music selection was far from the regular top ten selection. Both of which I found extremely refreshing.
Can't wait to go back and highly recommend to everyone who's up for something new and refreshing on the restaurant Kauai scene."

"I waited for my wife to arrive so I ordered the crispy cauliflower it was so amazing full of flavor and seasoned just right. Then I ordered the pasta bolognese and Magda ordered the eggplant parmesan both were excellent just like Italia.  Oh then we finished with this amazing pineapple upside down cake. Yes amazing and pineapple upside down cake do go together. Come and enjoy."

"The ocean view will draw you in and the delicious food will bring you back!   We visit Kauai every year and were delighted to find this brand new restaurant directly on the Kapaa bike path.  Owner, Sam, is very  personable and energetic with a friendly staff.   We enjoyed Happy Hour (3:30-5p) and returned for dinner same night.   Imaginative menu with locally sourced ingredients and everything is well executed.  We shared a meal of arugula beet salad with goat cheese, roasted cauliflower/Parmesan skillet and nightly special (jerk chicken with pineapple salsa & rice).  Each dish was delicious and portion size was generous.  Prices are very fair @ $15-$25 for entrees.  Small tapas plates and cheese boards also on menu.  While we did not order a cocktail, our local wheat beer on tap was refreshing after a long day exploring Kapaa town.  The stadium seating here and ocean views cannot be beat - we cannot emphasize this enough!!!!   Decor is island comfy and eclectic Bohemian.  All around solid value for a gem of restaurant.  We will definitely return and no doubt Sam will build a loyal customer base very quickly."
